About Smoke Rise Ranch and It's Location

Nestled in the hills and valleys of Southeastern Ohio, is a place where you and your family can experience a true western lifestyle, unlike any other place in this part of the country.                           We have adapted our working cattle ranch in such a way, that you , as our guests, can get away from the big city and pitch in and feel like you're a part of the "crew" or just relax and enjoy a quiet getaway from the pressures and demands of everyday life.                            We are located in a lightly populated area , just seven miles from Burr Oak State Park, on 2000 acres of privately owned land. We are almost entirely surrounded by a wildlife management area and the Wayne National Forest, encompassing some 30,000 continuous acres. The terrain contains a wealth of different features, ranging from high rocky bluffs, to lush green bottom ground. There are ponds and small lakes where you can ride to and water your horse, or you can "drop a line" and fish the day away!. The birds, deer, beaver, turkey and grouse, just to name a few of the animals found here, all provide an opportunity to view the abundant wildlife here.

What You Can Expect At The Ranch

Whether you prefer to  " get involved" and be part of the action, or just sit and relax with a book in one of our hot tubs, we have something for everyone ! In addition to the great trail rides we offer every day (either as a group or at your own leisure), there is almost always some special activity going on here and you as our guest are invited to join right in !                             Some of the many events that we do here are: cattle roundups, team penning clinics, roping and cutting competitions, fun and play days, pool parties, hay rides, BBQ's, music events and dances are just a few of the scheduled activities at Smoke Rise.  We strive to offer everyone a wonderful experience, whether you are an individual here by yourself or with your family,friends, corporate get together etc.

Training For You and Your Horse

Learn natural horsemanship , starting and development of horses. We regularly provide clinics with renowned horse trainers and we are proud to have some of the best horsemen in the business, right here on the ranch.                             You will be offered a chance to practice techniques and philosophies as taught by Brent and Lynn Semingson and others on the ranch, using your horse or one of ours. Private and group training sessions are available for both the horse and rider. All levels of experience are welcome here.

Area Map And Directions

 

From Columbus, OH take Rt. 33 south, to Nelsonville, OH. Turn left or east on St. Rt. 78, to Murray City. At the stop sign in Murray City, turn right and continue on Rt 78, approximatly 1/8th of a mile and turn left on County Rd. 92 ( Hunterdon Rd.) Follow the signs for about 1 1/2 miles to the campgrounds and the office.  PLEASE OBEY THE SPEED LIMIT SIGNS ! !  The ranch's horse herd, runs loose on the property as do kids and dogs... so please be careful
